Hardly Working
Solo Exhibition 2021
Sometime during MDÁ 2021 I figured it was about time I gathered some work and put them together for my very first solo exhibition. At the time I was employed by The Color House Inc. a fine art printing and frame shop where I was the head printer. So, needless to say I had quite the advantage when it came to getting my works printed, framed & hung. The shop also served as the location where the works would be displayed for an entire month (August 13th-September 3rd 2021)

The title "Hardly Working" came from the small pockets of time I'd spend sketching out ideas, or placing brush strokes on a piece while working at The Color House Inc. It can also refer to some of the styles I was exploring in the pieces shown, whether or not it would work as a standalone continued series or not. The works might seem disjointed and too un-alike one another at first but this collection of my works is a great example of my interests & my signature styles. Those that are familiar with my work understand it instantly and for a newcomer it's a great introduction to how I process & execute ideas to create my works. So am I working hard, or hardly working? I'd simply reply "yes"
The following are pictures of the pieces featured in the exhibition.
All the photography works were captured on film.
(They look much better in person fyi)
A hidden MDÁ 2019 piece finally seeing the light of day
Having the original piece next to the expanded version was something I just had to show people. How it could be scanned impeccably, blown up 5x its size & look just like the original
Some more MDÁ 2019 pieces in physical form.
This piece was in the entrance of the gallery and was left blank for the majority of the opening night. The plan was to complete it live during the show, as it was part of an ongoing weekly instagram-story calligraphy series that is exclusive to my followers on that platform.
The completed piece.
Next some random pictures taken on opening night!
Then came the closing party...
Big thanks to The Color House Inc. for serving as the location & the vehicle in which these pieces were able to be printed and framed. Much love to all my family and friends that came by to see my works, I can't wait to show everyone the new stuff I've been making since then. Till next time
